Eczema: Diet – Smoothies

Hello there my gorgeous readers! Now in the run up to returning to university I have decided to start exploring a healthy, eczema-friendly diet that doesn’t cost a bomb!

The first step is smoothies! I love smoothies and specially bought my own smoothie maker for uni! It is a quick and low-calorie way of introducing all sorts of vitamins and minerals into your system, giving you loads of energy for the day!

If you’re a fitness freak like me then they provide the opportunity to put in all sorts off protein shakes or energy foods that promote weight loss or muscle maintenance. Although whether the protein powder contains anything might effect your skin – I’ll have to get back to you on that!

To start off I thought I’d share with you a very simple breakfast/lunch smoothie that is packed with vitamins and essential nutrients!

Spinach, Strawberry & Banana Smoothie (400ml – 1 serving)


1 medium size Banana

Handful of Strawberries

Handful of Fresh Spinach

Goat’s Milk (About half a small glass – add to your preference)



  1. Put in the smoothie maker: 1 medium size banana (1/3 of the container), Handful of Strawberries (1/3 of the container), Handful of Spinach (1/3 of the container) – As pictured above.
  2. Add a little bit of Goat’s milk – replacement for yoghurt or cow’s milk.
  3. (Optional) Add any other energy foods, for example, Goji berries.
  4. Blend until smooth.

The Facts:

Banana contains a lot of essential nutrients and also has benefits in terms of weight loss, digestion and heart health. And even more importantly they contain fibre and several antioxidants.

Strawberries, likewise, contains many antioxidants, as well as many vitamins, such as vitamin C and Vitamin B6. They are also a good source of, copper, potassium and omega-3 fatty acids, among others.

Spinach needs no introduction, but even so, it is an amazing source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, such as, iron, calcium and vitamins A, B2, C and K.

These ingredients are a great source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, helping not just keeping you healthy but also balancing your bodies nutrients intake.

In the slideshow above, I have also included photos of a cook book which I swear by! It has not only healthy meals of all types; vegetarian, low-calorie and cheap, but also has a section on filling teas and smoothies, with which you can replace any dairy/cow products with goat dairy products.

I hope this gives you a head start in looking at either being healthy or starting your new eczema diet. Over the next few weeks I’ll be showing you my plans for my university, low-budget, eczema diet.
